This Privacy Policy explains how WoodUpp Africa (Pty) Ltd, trading as Thula Wall (“Thula Wall”, “we”, “us”), collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you visit www.thulawall.co.za, buy from us, or contact us. We process personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”).

2. WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Information you give us: your name, email address, phone number, delivery and billing address, order details, installation site details, and anything you send us when you contact us (including by email or WhatsApp).

Payment information: card payments are processed by Stitch, and Payflex payments are processed by Payflex. We do not see or store your full card details. For EFT payments, we receive the payment reference and the bank details shown on your proof of payment.

Information collected automatically: when you browse our site, we and our service providers collect device and usage information, such as your IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and how you arrived at our site, using cookies and similar technologies.

Reviews: if you leave a product review, we collect your name and review content.

Providing your contact and delivery details is necessary to process your order. If you do not provide them, we cannot complete your purchase.

3. WHY WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use your personal information to:

  • process, deliver and support your orders, returns and installations
  • communicate with you about your order or enquiry
  • send you marketing, where you have agreed to receive it or are an existing customer (you can opt out at any time)
  • improve our website, products and services
  • prevent fraud and keep our site secure
  • comply with our legal obligations, such as tax and accounting records

We process your information because it is necessary to perform our contract with you, to comply with the law, for our legitimate interests (such as improving our services and preventing fraud), or with your consent.

4. WHO WE SHARE IT WITH

We share personal information only as needed with:

  • Shopify, which hosts our online store
  • Stitch, which processes card payments
  • Payflex, which processes Payflex payments
  • courier and delivery partners, to deliver your order
  • our installation team, if you book installation
  • Google (Analytics and Ads) and Meta (Facebook and Instagram), for website analytics and advertising
  • Judge.me, which manages product reviews
  • WhatsApp, if you choose to contact us that way
  • our professional advisers, and authorities where required by law

We do not sell your personal information.

5. TRANSFERS OUTSIDE SOUTH AFRICA

Some of our service providers (including Shopify, Google and Meta) store or process information outside South Africa. We only use providers that are subject to laws, binding agreements or policies that provide an adequate level of protection, as required by section 72 of POPIA.

6. COOKIES

We use cookies that are necessary for our store to work (for example, your cart and checkout), and analytics and advertising cookies that help us understand how our site is used and show you relevant ads. You can manage your cookie preferences through our cookie banner or your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies may stop parts of the site from working.

7. DIRECT MARKETING

We will only send you marketing messages if you have agreed to receive them, or if you are an existing customer and the messages relate to similar products or services. Every marketing message includes a simple way to unsubscribe, and you can opt out at any time by emailing info@thulawall.com.

8. HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION

We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes above, or as required by law. Order and invoice records are kept for at least 5 years for tax purposes.

9. HOW WE PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access. If we become aware of a security compromise affecting your information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as required by POPIA.

10. YOUR RIGHTS

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

  • ask whether we hold your personal information, and request a copy of it
  • ask us to correct or delete inaccurate, out-of-date or unlawfully held information
  • object to the processing of your information, including for direct marketing
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent
  • lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator

11. COMPLAINTS

If you have a concern about how we handle your personal information, please contact us first at info@thulawall.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at www.inforegulator.org.za.

12. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page.
